Don't get me wrong, I'm not a nobby nic knocker!
They make great cross country tyres,
but since I have been back at Glentress my front NN (ust) started leaking air, so I sent it back as it was nearly new, the rear one has a nick in the sidewall and is about 50% worn after 2 months, so i reckon is on the way out.
I have stuck my supertacky ust High Roller on the front, it grips superbly but is taxing on the uphill.
I like the HR style front and xc style rear as GT seems to be a wet ride about 70% of the time.
Anybody tried the Maxxis LUST HR on the front and the ignitor LUST on the rear??
or what about the Schwalbe AM tyre Albert/Fat Albert? (can any tyre be worth what they charge)
I ride a 140mm full susser, enjoy the climb but like to get a good flow going on the descent.
cheers!

I almost went for fat alberts, but heard that, like the nobby nics, they can be a bit fragile. Not what you want in an all mountain tyre. Instead, I went for continental rubber queens, and they will probably be the tyre I use for the rest of my life.
If you like the high roller up the front, don't bother playing around with it. If its a bit slow, try going for a harder rubber - 60a maybe.
If you thought the nobby nic was good, maybe just try something similar. Conti mountain kings or maxxis advantage maybe? Wouldn't use an igniter, think it wouldn't give enough traction on climbs in the wet, but I like to climb standing.0 -
I ride with a LUST 2.35 High Roller on the front and a LUST 2.35 Crossmark on the rear.
There's no such a thing as the perfect tyre set-up but in terms of a compromise between speed, grip, strength, weight and cost, it's the best I've found. The Crossmark does break traction on very steep, wet climbs though."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0
