Hi all,
can you suggest some good rubber for me as i have no confidence in my mountain kings, i ride brechfa almost every week and they just don't seem to grip as i'd like, the front wants to let go round evey berm which is making me slow. so suggestions please.
Thanks.

I switched to Conti Verticals to gain some confidence in front grip. Great tyres and very grippy
Do a search as this topic comes up quite a lot!

Nevegals or High Rollers for all-round goodness... I hated my Mountain Kings too, I can't see the point, they're not fast enough to tolerate the lack of grip (or, not grippy enough to tolerate the lack of speed, either way they lasted 2 rides)Uncompromising extremist0

conti rubber queens. Miles grippier then the mountain kings, bit heavier, but not noticeably slower.0

I hated my Mountain Kings but pumped them up to 40psi now I have no issues in fact I rate them.
I'm running 2.4 black chillis.2002 Ellsworth Isis
1997 Santa Cruz Heckler
1994 Cannondale M900
1992 Specialized Stumpjumper

Id agree with nevegals, I've found them them to be a great all round tyre, fairly fast rolling decent weight but grippy when i needed them to be, and very fast clearing the mud, I run a pair of 2.1 dtc s0

I roll a Maxxis DH Minion on the Front, super grippy with good knobbly sides... maybe too grippy though... might be an option0

1st off anything smaller than a 2.2 is a waste of time if you want grip, brechfa is quite smooth and slick so i dont think big tread pattern is the key here, i think you need a soft compound, super tacky.
last time i rode brechfa was the enduro, i had a wtb wolverine on the back and it was super fast but useless for decsending, it kept trying to go sideways and overtake me, when brechfa is wet dont expect miracles from any tyre tho.
if your worrying about it slowing you down just use the soft one on the front and have something harder on the back.
i reccemend high roller super tacky for front, not sure what others tyres are soft and reliable sorry, i know high rollers ST are awesome tho having owned one for 2 years, they last forever on the front tooDont look at it-ride it! they are tools not f*cking ornaments
