Giant Anthem X2 09 vs my old Zaskar Pro

I'm currently riding a Gt Zaskar Pro 07 which I'm fairly happy with but having read some good reviews about the 2009 Giant Anthem bikes I am feeling tempted to get one.
I have always ridden hard tails for ease of maintenance and light weight but maybe it is time for a change seeing the rave reviews Anthems are getting and as I fancy trying full suss. Probably looking at an X2 but need to be quick as the 2010 bikes are coming with a big price hike...
Generally ride fast XC but a bike that comes close to doing it all would be a good switch.
Anyone have any advice or experience of the anthem or should I just refuse to give in to some bike reviews and wanting something new just for a change?
Cheers

Only one way to decide: and that is to go and test one!0

I absolutely love my Anthem, it definitely fits the 'fast xc' requirement. It's insanely quick and responsive and just an absolute blast. Go and try one if you can mate!0

09 X2s are all sold out........................
However the 2010 X3 is £1750,and has a similar,or slighlty better spec. Not in the shops until November though.
Looks cool in black too:http://www.pedalon.co.uk/acatalog/giant_anthem_x3_.html2006 Giant XTC

Im looking at buying an anthem as well mate. Going on all the reviews they sound friggin ace. Im pretty sure the X1 won WMB bike of the year and the X2 has the same frame so you cant go wrong really. The 2010 range looks much nicer so I may wait till next year.
Keep us updated if you have a spin on one.0 -
i'm getting a 2010 anthem x4.cannot wait to ride it!!!0

I tried to get an X2 but couldn't get hold of one for love nor money, I bit the bullet and went for the X1 and I'm so glad I did, its such a quick/light bike. I'm slightly less experienced than my mates but it makes up for my shortcomings and lets me keep up with them without killing myself! I know the guy who works at the shop and apparently for 2010 they are 'moving' the models up by starting with and X4 rather than X3 if that makes senseGiant Anthem X10

Thank you for your replies chaps.
Dont fancy selling your x2 llama farmer!
A test ride sounds the way to go for now and pedal on have the x3 at £925. Would be good for upgrades over time. The 2010 bikes look very cool especially the x1 in red but a bit out my price range. Will maybe wait 'til I can test ride the '10 bikes in due course

I'm gutted I didn't buy a 2009 one when I had the money
Bloody car just cost me £1800 to fix and now the wife wants to extend our house which apprently more important than me "blowing thousands on a bloody bike" still it gives me more time to extend my budget0 -

At least you take the positives..... you could have looked at it as if your never going to have the money or somethingyeehaamcgee wrote:
That's like saying i want a door for my car that doesn't meet the roof, because I once had the wind blow it shut when I was getting in, and I had my head squished between, well, the door and the roof.0 -
Bearing in mind the lack of any '09 X2's my thoughts are turning to the 2010 X4. Looks good in white (reminds me of an Opel Manta!), and the spec for the price is amazing.
Will also give me time to save some cash and that means hopefully keeping the Zaskar too!
Can't wait for a test ride0 -
good choice dd.you might have to wait a bit to get one though.won't be getting my small size x 4 until feb 2010.although the larger sizes/more expensive models will be here this year.0

Raceface - have just been on the pedal on website and they state small and large anthem X4 will be available in November 09. Might be worth checking out to save the wait0
