1) Never hit a jump at approx 20mph without leaning backwards, e.g getting your technique all wrong.
2) Never somersault, yes somersault over the bars in mid air.
3) Always remember to kick the bike away
4) Never land on your back and slide 5ft on gravel
5) Next time you fancy trying any of the above always get suitable body armour and learn to jump properly.
6) Never spend the next week with back and neck pain and a swollen right thumb.
Moral of the story (apart from laughing at myself?) get some suitable protection..
Bikes man, gotta love em..pmsl

blimeh
glad you're OK. There's a fine line between a sore back and a broken one.
I find that no matter what armour I wear, I always hurt the bit that's not protected.Everything in moderation ... except beer
Beer in moderation ... is a waste of beer
If riding an XC race bike is like touching the trail,
then riding a rigid singlespeed is like licking it
... or being punched by it, depending on the day0 -

A friend of mine did more or less exactly what you've described two weeks ago at Cannock.
He decided on his second time out on a mountain bike (since riding as a kid) that he was gonna do one of the jumps at the top of the chainslapper descent on FTD. What he didn't realise was that pure speed alone wouldnt lift the bike into the air.
14 days on and he still has a bad back and sore neck! Just lucky he was wearing a helmet at the time! Didn't stop him going and buying a Scott Scale mind!0 -

Ouch....
Good to hear you're ok(ish).
Am real glad to be taking an MB training course with a local guy on the 19th. Just hope I don't fall off this weekend beforehand :oops:Cool, retro and sometimes downright rude MTB and cycling themed T shirts. Just MTFU.
