Nothing on Viner's website yet, except a pic on the Italian home page

Ciconline also have a test of the 2010 Perfecta (automatic translation software clearly used...but you'll get the gist!) : http://www.ciclonline.com/eng/bicycles/ ... 2010-.html

    Very nice, but one problem...

the "THIS IS A MAXIMA JUST IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW" decals on the forks need to go. The decals on the wheels and frame are quite enough. :)
    FCN 2-4.

"What happens when the hammer goes down, kids?"
    "It stays down, Daddy."
    "Exactly."

Yes, Viner decals do tend to be on the shouty side. Mine is another example....

  • Yeah, the fork decals are a bit much. Also, the downtube decals are very similar in style to their 2008 scheme, which I don't like so much. They've taken the 'maxima' off the integrated seat tube though, which oddly now looks a bit bland. In summary, I don't think it's quite as pretty!

Decals aside, they've still got the kno......erm top tube extension, and 'the version for the new dura-ace electronic group'? As in shimano? Sacrilege! Burn him! BURN HIM! ;)
  • It also looks like from the Italian review, that the stock fork on the new Perfecta is not going to be much of an improvement, better off stumping up for a fork upgrade. Looks VERY nice though. Some more pics here :

Just wondering why no Eurobike report had any mention of Viner ? Impossible to find any pics of the new range, really annoying. Pretty poor PR IMO

PS That new Bianchi Infinito looks fantastc !!

2009 model decals seem to be restrained (relatively)- the '09 Magnifica scheme's a bit quieter than mine- perhaps their regular designer had a year off ;) They don't seem to go overboard on the steel frames, either....
LiT, what's the top tube extension supposed to do (and it seems to be optional, as Chip 'oyler's doesn't have it, neither does one of the bikes on Epic's Viner page, most seem to have it though)?

looks like you got the nicer looking one (last years) though I guess one could remove some/all of the decals.
  • I like the looks. Especially the Perfecta. If you're going to do it loud, do it loud and proud, no point in doing half measures, then it just looks like you though you bottled it halfway through the design process.

It's not optional. I was surprised when my frame turned up and it didn't have the extension. I was told it depends on the frame dimensions, angles etc

BTW - the New Maxima RS is more than just a change to decals and paintjobs. There's been a lot of work done on upgrading it.

Perhaps... although if your geometry is very unusual I guess it might not have been an option.

Yes, the 09 Magnifica stood out as being almost tasteful!

I rather like the new graphics - if you are going for bad taste, you may as well do it properly! For example, who else would manage to cram the company name 4 times on the down tube alone, 15 times on the frame and forks in total and still have space to mention the model 6 times  Still, the'll paint them in last years scheme if you ask politely.

Anyway, I like them and I am still pretty sure I'll be ordering a Perfecta soon; the new one seems to have become last years Mitus in terms of frame design. Will investigate the forks issue (which is annoying as I believe the price is going up somewhat anyway) but mine'll be in Viner race replica colours (black, white and orange).
    Faster than a tent.......
  • The new Perfecta really looks the biz. The Mitus, 2009/2010 looks a little strange with the reverse curve in the downtube. I much preferred the 'flared diamond' profile of the 2008 Mitus.

Regarding the fork issue with the Perfecta, I couldn't really make out what fault they had with it from the online translation, but I could tell the tester was not happy about the stock fork to be supplied. WIll Viner let you select a Black Drive fork ( formerly on the Maxima ) instead for a few quid more ?

I'll ask about the top tube thingy in Velocity.... and the Maxima RS! My Magnifica is still off the road, sadly. My Fulcrum 5s finally turned up today (not exactly fast, JE James...). Lovely wheels, they look fantastic. Teeny, tiny, ickle problem- back has a little label on it that says 'Shimano' and not 'Campagnolo'. Fume! Rage! I'm going to take them into Velocity anyway to make absolutely sure that it's the wrong rear and not the wrong label before going through the whole RMA rigmarole......

You mean JE James actually had your order in stock?!

Oh, hang on - they didn't, they just pretended they did then sent you the wrong thing. Good luck getting a pair of Campag wheels out of them....

My update: Returned wheel went via Parcelforce 24, delivered to them Wednesday morning. Heard nothing back. Phoned JE James yesterday, the returns guy had packaged the replacement wheel but it hadn't gone out because he had a day off sick. Processed my postage refund there and then, said he'd send out the wheel for next day. And, praise be, 8.10 this morning, open the door heading off to the supermarket, there's the courier. And even more astonishingly, it's a Campag hub on this one. Yaaaaay :) The returns guy has slightly redeemed JE James in my eyes, shame about whichever numpty couldn't read the label in the warehouse......
Velocity will provisionally do the bike Tuesday, sooner if they can (mechanic just left)....Wait nearly over at least!
