Help please!
I have been lurking through these excellent forums for a few days in an effort to choose a new bike.
I am looking for a hybrid bike and have a shortlist of 3. I would appreciate some advice.
The bikes are: Giant crs 2.5 FS, a mongoose crossway 450 and a GT Transeo 3.0 disc. The price point is equal, ie around £400. A Claud Butler urban 400 was on the list, but was just called "rubbish quality" by a mate of mine...
I will use the bike for road and light trails/paths/bridleways on rides with my children. I am looking for the best combination of quality and durability.
Suggestions gratefully received, Jonny

Shoot your mate!
The Claud Butler is the best specced there, comfortably. Though you might want to try them out.
Do you really need disc brakes on a hybrid though? I personally don't think so. Adds weight.0 -
I too was in the market for a Hybrid recently.
I eventually went down the route of a Halfords Carrera Gryphon (disc version). As quoted discs not really essential, but do stop well, perhaps a little too well at times.
My local Halfords team were helpful and prepared the bike well, plus the bike was on offer at the time.
As they seemed a weak point in the spec I put the money I saved towards a decent set of wheels from Spa Cycles, these have proved more than up to dealing with the smooth London roads and improved the ride.Glen
