Headed out on the road tonight  (yeah I know) just to stretch the old legs. Have not done this for months and had forgotton how uneventful it could be, no rocks, drops, relentless hot climbs or berms and not even the local old ladies wanted to shuv me off the road, I was almost dissapointed.
On the way back I opted for a diversion on the old railway line which after all the rain we have had recently was full of lovely muddy puddles . Maybe sad or a bit perverted but just loved the feeling of getting some mud on my legs
Then there was the satisfaction of surprising a couple of chav's in their white trackie's as I raced by them as one of them said 'Fu' or something cause I didn't hear as I was long gone!, that's for all the 'something wrong with your bike mate... the wheels going round) comments.
Accross the old suspension bridge as I approached the final leg i got 'Schhhhhotland' roared in my earwhole by a drunken native, he seemed happy unfortunately my ear drum on one side doesn't agree.
Ah and then on the final hurdle as I turned off the road and onto the pavement for a few yards a quick splash through a lovely fresh streak of pi$h after some dweeb had let his dog wee all over the shop, thanks!
Happy Days , you have to be able to laugh eah!

Great read, felt like I was riding with you at times there! were you riding your mountain bike while out on the road? I think we all get stupid chav comments when we have to use the road but we're all too fast for there brains to kick in with the insulting comment, I think mine on the way home tonight was a sarcastic 'nice bike mate' but he never finished as it turned out it was a nice bike0
