hey guys, i don't know if this is the right place to put this thread but it seems the most suitable..
basically i have a bad knee due to a past injury and by 'bad' i mean it's stiff and it doesn't bend very far. i don't know the exact angle it can manage but i know that it definitely can't manage the bends required for a normal bike (pedal). so i'm just wondering if there's such thing as getting a custom bike made so that the pedals are, i dunno, pushed forward a bit? or something like that?
thanks for reading, any information is greatly appreciated!

Do you mean with the bottom bracket further forward in relation to the sear? If so, then yes, it's called a recumbent0

any chance there are other ways of getting through the problem without having to ride a recumbent bike? (not meaning to offend anybody who rides them... just not my thing. )0

ride standing up?"Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0

Dont know of anything like that. Try designing one youself. Would be a great project. This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 255 character limit0

could try standing up i spose..... the seats aren't exactly comfortable.
as for designing one - wouldn't know where to start! but there's a first to everything n all that
thanks for your replies0 -
try shorter cranks, then you'll have less flex at the knee. How much bend is an issue for you?0

Surely riding with shorter crank arms will lessen the degree of knee bending, don't know if it will be enough for you though. You can even have the option of riding one arm short an the other normal, if it is only one knee that jerks you off.
Problem will only be to find odd length cranks, but suppose you could find some used.
Otherwise I think you can have some custom made in Germany - don't remember the guy who does them right know, but will look into it if required.
Else, some bikes are made with slack seattube which'll put forward the BB - find one such and then throw in a seatpost with a lot of setback.0 -
i didnt think about that - shorter crank arms! thanks guys my knee bends to about 90 degrees i'd guess, should be ok?
and dbmnk, how much do you reckon that german guy/place would charge? thanks for your help0 -
I recall them being around 1500
