steerer measurements??

hi all,

how can i tell if a fork is a 1 or 1 1/8 what measurements need to be taken?

    the diameter (external) of the steerer tube.

    i have a measurement of 3.5 inchs

    ops! scratch that! that would be the circumference Dean not diameter! lol

    i have just over an in so i take it its 1 1/8?

    divide the circumference by pi................



    What do they teach at school these days?

    1,1/8" is around 28.6mm wheras 1" is 25.4mm
