One of the many joys :? of having teenage children is that they can keep you less out of date in terms of music.

Both mine returned from Reading raving about The Gaslight Anthem. I gave them a listen and they were right. So just got their CDs. Simply stunning, get you off your seat music and that will help sort out what to listen to on the winter turbo.

They hail from New Jersey and have the feel of Springsteen about them. He seems to agree:

So if you like the boss (or just like rocking) suggest worth a listen..

I recently started listening to 6 music as I got fed up with Sarah Kennedy's pitiful anecdotes and it is excellent, they play some classic stuff from over the years and introduce you to some brilliant new stuff.
It may be that the DJs are all about the same age as me!

That said, they played Double Dutch by Malcolm McLaren this morning!

Afraid my knobs stuck on Planet Rock. I like DJs to be older than me....

  • I saw that performance at Glastonbury and thought they were covering a Springsteen song, so I checked them out, they are very good, remind me a little of the Dropkick Murphys too.

As for The Boss, what can you say? Such a legend to perform with them.

    6 music is excellent. 8)
  • I started listening to them when they first came out, ITunes were giving their single away as a free single of the week. Liked it that much I donwloaded the album. Sound a bit like early Killers with a hint of Springsteen and a touch of Elvis rock. Nice and different.

  • Had their 59 Sound album for a few months now and it's very Springsteeny... They haven't managed to turn me away from The Hold Steady though, they are my absolute all time favourite band, and I only got into them aged 25!
