I am buying easton carbon tubular wheels which i will be using for triathlons including Ironman UK next year.
I have no idea which tire's to buy I need two obviously plus at least one spare but the majority seem very expensive.
Can someone recommend a tubular that is a good combination of lightness with decent puncture resistance.
Thanx in advance.

I wanted a pair of these in 23mm width but struggled to get any, couldn't wait and didn't want 21mm so had to make do with 22mm Conti GP 4000 SR.
If it's just for tris/TTs you will be fine with 21mm.
As spares I bought a couple of Contis for 11 quid each from Probikekit.0 -
I've not had problems with Conti Sprinters. Tufo tires makes some nice light tires and you can put in a sealant to help stop leaks. Sort of a preemptive strike against punctures.0

Another vote for the Vittoria EVO CXs from me, good puncture resistance and a super fast ride. You can also get them in a triathlon version which has a butyl inner instead of the stock latex tube which can lose a bit of pressure overnight if you have to leave you're bike hanging around in transition for a while.
I bought some 23mm EVO CXs from sdeals a month or two back and I do prefer them to the 21mm versions. They only come in black though and it looks like they're out of stock at the moment, they were a good price and arrived quick though.

Just get a cheap tub as a spare, the Tufos aren't renowned for their ride quality, but they are supposed to pack down pretty small which is handy for a spare.0 -
My view is that I spent $$$ on tubular wheels, therefore I'm not going to compromise on tyres for the sake of 30 or 40 quid. I got Veloflex carbons on offer for about £50 a piece, which is obviously a lot, but in comparison to the cost of the wheels, the extra is neglible. I started on Conti GP4000s, purely because I'd used the clincher version for so long without trouble, but after puncturing after only a few hundred miles I switched to the Veloflex, and have not regretted it since.
I'm a fan of Vittoria clinchers, not used their tub version yet. However, I had a deep cut on the sidewall of my 2 week old EVO CXII that meant it had to be binned, but that could just be one of those things rather than an indication of their overall quality.0 -
Currently riding on Vittoria Corsas which are pretty good in all conditions. By all accounts, Veloflex Carbons are the benchmark by which all others are judged. Tufo are pretty durable too - you can use the Tufo sealant on any Butyl-lined tubs.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
