my chainguide design

I fancied a bit of DIY... and decided a chainguide was a good thing to design since a chainguide that will fit my bike, work with my current chainrings blah blah blah would set me back about £60.
first idea is simple, mount a thinner (metal?) bash ring on the inside (frame side) as well as my polycarb bash on the outside (pedal side) with 1-2mm clearance between the chain to keep it on. only problem would be tyre clearance and finding long enough chainring bolts to keep it all secure.
second idea is more complex, it involves a taco bash guard and an old front derailleur mount. the taco guard works the same as the above design, just a few mm clearance to keep the chain on, but instead of it going all the way round the chainring it just sits near the top. i made a quick sketch to show what i mean. blue is normal parts, chain, cranks, chainring etc. black is the seat tube. red is the chainguide and mount.
feedback please

that would work fine for the top but you may still need something underneath to stop the chain popping off from the underside."It\'s so easy, Even Drummer can do it"0

You might end up with chain rub in the the extreme gears too :?:0

But that rub may infact be keeping the chain on...Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10 -
True, but it would do my napper in!0

if you made the shape an elongated triangle (pointing narrow end towards the rear) and had a pin or two above the chain to stop it lifting off, you could probably avoid the chainrub and if it was to try popping off the triangle shape would lift it back into position as it moved forwards, but itd have to be quite strong and tight fitting and would be fiddly to get it working right."It\'s so easy, Even Drummer can do it"0
