I've just recently got back into riding after too many years and am very confused over tyre pressures. I'm riding an 09 rush carbon 4 with 2.2 Conti mountian kings, i've read 30/35 40/45 and loads in between? I mainly free ride/XC Any clues? Thanks......

whatever is right for you/your bike and the size of tyres.

try searching as this is almost a daily question.

How much do you weigh ?

If it's any good to you I run my MK 2.2's at 35 psi (ish) and I'm 14.5st
  • Thanks that helps im 15st. cheers.
  • I'd say between 30 - 40 Psi. Although its a very personal thing, just make sure you dont go too low as you'll get pinch flats.
  • I'm 15 1/2 st, and run a Mountain King 2.2's at 32psi front and 34psi rear. I find that any lower I get loads of pinch flats, any higher they start to lose grip. Thats for Thetford Forest, playing on the Red Route and bombholes. I did take them up to Derbyshire and they didnt seem to cope too well with rocky desents. Got some Rubber Queens for that now!

    Hourly, you mean.

I ran my 2.2 mountain kings at 25 ish most of the time, but you're almost double my weight, so 30-35 might be better.
  • Thanks everybody some great advice. i've sgtarted at 35 front and rear and they seem fine. I might go up a little on the rear but i can't see it being more than 37.5psi. Thanks again.
