Front Sus Forks, £150

I am looking at getting the Cube Attention as it sounds like a great bike with shocking forks.
I am relatively new to this, so am currently riding trail centres (usually the red run at llandegla) and some gentle off-road stuff. If I want to upgrade the front sus forks and have a £150 budget what do you suggest?? The below seem like a steal, but not really sure (way to much information around for me to digest it all!!!!!)
Rock Shox Tora SL Coil Forks - Turnkey 2009 (these are on CRC reduced to £139)..
Cheers

the Attention comes with 80mm forks so you will have to watch the fork length vs the old one to make sure you dont screw the geometry of the bike. You will want to try and match the length of the old fork (axle to crown) to any replacement - a little change wont be too bad but 20mm extra travel could alter the handling and feel of the bike.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0

I wouldn't buy a new bike that needed a replacement fork on day 1. Cube have a broad range, why not get one with a better fork on? If they don't have what you want, look to another brand.
OTOH, if you wanted to upgrade the bike you have with 150 quid for XC fork-y love then an RS Tora would probably suit youEverything in moderation ... except beer
Beer in moderation ... is a waste of beer
If riding an XC race bike is like touching the trail,
then riding a rigid singlespeed is like licking it
... or being punched by it, depending on the day0 -
The Cube should be fine with 100mm forks.
I can't believe a £600 bike comes with that fork as standard. But if spending an extra £150, why not look at £750 bikes?0 -

cheers for the feedback guys
the bike is reduced to £509, I was looking at spending about £600. so the £750 is out of my range for now.
Any thoughts around that price greatfully received.0 -
Carrera Fury, or GT Agressor 2.0 worth a look.0

I see on Halfords the GT aggressor XC 1 and XC 2. I presume this is the one you're on about? XC2 is £449, XC1 is £549. Is the 1 worth that little bit extra?0
-
Ah yes, XC1 is the one to go for.0

my only comment on that is I would prefer to go for something a little less main stream (a little more exotic), hence my interest in the Cube.. Not that there is anything wrong with mainstream , just my way(before I start WWIII)
I realise I may give up a little in perfromance, but any more 'left field' suggestions?
How does the BeOne Spirit 2009 stack up (sale price £475)
OR
BeOne Stumble 2006 (sale price £499)
OR
FOCUS northern light 2009 (sale price £525)
??
Picky I know!!!
Cheers0 -
Duno, wouldn't say cube was exotic!0

Any good??0 -
The Spirit falls into the trap of nice parts, horrific fork. Avoid like the plague.
The StoneBumble is an old and heavy hardcoreish hardtail. Was my vote for the ugliest bike of that year.
Cindercone is a well specced and classic hardtail.0 -
Gt aggressors arnt mainstream. iv only ever seen one XC1, and i look out for them coz i have the XCR. what about the merlin malt 1? or a commencal?I like bikes and stuff0

The Kona looks pleasing on the eye as well, so that wouldn't be a bad choice..
I'll look like I know what I am doing!!!! Even though I don't..
Ha ha
Classic
Cheers for the input.0 -
with regards GT as they are sold through halfrods I figured they would be everywhere, again just shows what I know...
Commencal look great but possibly a bit out of my price range for now. Merlin Malt1 gets great reviews so I'll go and have another look at that,
Looks like we might be getting close to a decision with its Kona or the Merlin poking their noses in front.... Are there to be any late surprises!!!0 -
Well I would advise trying some out, or at least sitting on them for size.0

I would seriously consider the Focus Northern Lite 2009 from wiggle.
And for £525 you'll have Tora, and for that price I can't find any low end component.
And you have all sizes in stock.0
