QR Skewers - different sizes?

I want to replace my QR's with allen key skewers. The back one is fine, but the DT Swiss "ratchet" one that is in the front is MUCH thicker than the skewer that I want to replace it with - i.e.the hole through the hub is much bigger than the skewer.

Do I need an adaptor or something?

It's a Spesh Stumpy 09 Comp

not happening on the front hub as it is not a Qr hub but it is a Spesh Stout hub that uses a 9mm through axle rather than a hollow 9mm axle as part of the hub and a separate Qr.

  • if you were REALLY desperate i guess you could change the axle over as it is a 9mm through axle?
Stumpjumper Comp: was marketed as a "cross country" bike, but with a bit of effort and 4 months in the saddle, i can safely call it a "cross continent" bike! Africa down, 6 to go. 8) FCN 11
  • Thanks all... No not desperate enough to change hubs or axles....

Anyone want to buy a front allen key skewer? :)
