Hi
Would you fit a 31.6 or a 27.2 carbon seatpost with a shim ?
There will only be approx 7" of post showing.
Will I notice the difference ?
For now I'll be going with the 27.2 and shim ( I've got carbon 27.2 from the old bike) as the new bike comes with a 31.6 alloy post but wondered if it'd be worth getting a 31.6 carbon in the future.
Would any benefit of a 27.2 post be negated by having so little showing ?
Thanks

7" is quite a lot seatpost IMO!
personally I would prefer to have a 31.6 seatpost - carbon, preferably. - i'm not wholly keen on shims but that said they would probably be fine with a shim.0 -
Could be 6" - The Mrs said I over estmate the length of things !
I had a TCR which had loads of seat post showing so 6" isn't much in comparison.25th August 2013 12hrs 37mins 52.3 seconds 238km 5500mtrs FYRM Never again.0 -
Why do you want to scrap the alu post? If your looking for something more comfortable I think it's a question that is impossible to answer here with so many variables in different CF posts. Some are stiffer than others as well as different weights etc. Try the 27.2 w/shim post that you have already and see how that feels and go from there.0
