The Football League

So, at the end of last season I started a thread asking who supported Football League teams, 'cos we all know that's where the real action lies!
There's loads of us on here, so I was wondering how the start of the season has gone for your team. I'm thinking about the Hucknall Town fans etc as well here, because I've not seen anything so far.
Personally, I can't complain with being unbeaten, although three draws out of five maybe isn't ideal (I'm a Blades fan by the way). As far as my second team, Chester, are concerned, the less said about them the better. 25 point deduction, threatened with being relegated three divisions, and two solitary draws from five matches means they are now on -23.
Anyway, join in the banter, including all you people who support the big teams in the Prem, hopefully we can keep people across teams that they normally wouldn't look out for.

Well, I did support a Football League team until the end of last season....then Wolves went and got promoted. Bit of a wobbly start to the season but will see how it pans out, will be happy just to stay up, and if we can clock up some decent performances against big names (well done Burnley the other week, by the way!!), that'll be a nice bonus.

You're welcome here too! It's not exclusive, like I said I know there are Hucknall Town fans on here for one, and last time I checked Chester City were a LONG way from the League!0 -
Kettering Town, played 7 and 12 points. That includes Mansfield, Luton, AFC Wimbledon and Oxford, so fairly chuffed to be 7th place.
As for Chester, I feel sorry for the fans but don't trust the Vaughan family.0 -
What about the Rugby Football League? Ah well...
I'm a reformed Sheffield Utd fan, the Tevez thing killed football for me."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Tranmere Rovers. Won 1 Lost 4. Not a good start. The new managerial team of John Barnes & Jason McAteer have a lot of work to do. While I'm willing to give them a chance, the chants of 'Barnes Out' are already starting. Hopefully things will start to improve.Planet-X SL Pro Carbon.

Wimbledon fan here not the fake the lot from the Land of Concrete cows, more than happy to be 4th in the Conny having beaten the Poppies for the first time since 1977.
see also our road feats at www.veloandblue.com , also worth a mention is Si Hood a York City fan who is riding road to all York citys away games this year ( yes all of em from York)!!!0 -
As a Peterborough United fan, I wasn't expecting stellar performances this season - after back to back promotions I think the team is now 'punching above its weight' so to speak. However too many games in and still winless is starting to get me worried...
A couple of 'results' in the Carling Cup is no compensation either.
On a slightly more positive note, here in Hungary, the sports channels used to show Premiership matches - however, it has been deemed that the TV rights are too expensive, so they've switched to showing the Championship - a very small two fingers up to the money grabbing Prem fat cats, but it pleases me. At least I can follow POSH's miserable progress by seeing some of it.0 -
The mighty Cherries ! Bournemouth.
4 wins from first 5 games, 3rd place in league 2.
Still have transfer embargo and no money but hey ho !
Up the cherries !I ride therefore I am0 -

Sod your luck with him in charge. I reckon he's got something wrong in the head, he should quit trying to play the hard man until the unlikely time when he's got a track record to back it up.
He will only be short lived before he flounces off in a huff where ever he goes.0 -

Hucknall, after being relegated to the northern premier league have P6 W1 D2 L3.
So results wise not the best start, but, the performances have been very good and our new young squad show loads of promise and I'm sure will mould into a good outfit. This season we're looking to consolidate and hopefully reach the play-offs or even better next season.
It's good to be able to enjoy the games again.Tail end Charlie

Norwich fan, Dad's fault...I joke every now and then saying I wish he was born in Barcelona but where would the fun be in that.
Pretty happy with the start this season, got rid of Gunny who wasn't a manager and should never have got the job after a dreadful first nineteen games in charge and overseeing a relegation - and Lambert appears to be a good appointment.
Ash_ - I grew up in Peterborough so have a bit of a soft spot for Posh (saw loads of games when I was younger and couldn't get to see City, £3 a ticket for U16's to see a team with players like Davies and Etherington coming through was value for money). Quietly pleased with the struggle you've had at the start to be honest. I went over to the Hornchurch game last year and was shocked at the arrogance of the support - think it's about time that the majority of fans realise as you said that you're perhaps 'punching above your weight' (although I think Peterborough should have a Championship side, the support from the city's dreadful really...average crowds should be much much higher than they are at present!).0 -
Tranmere Rovers
Utter shite. If I didn't laugh I'd cry!0 -

Support has always been poor since I've been going there - my grandfather might have been able to tell of times when there were 8,000 at reserve matches and you'd get 20,000 there to watch Skegness (seriously), but that was half a century ago.
That very few people care about the team just goes to show that Peterborough really is just a characterless commuter town.
I'd still like to think we can be a mid-table Championship side though, but anything more than that is just fanciful.0 -
I don't know if that's entirely true.
About 5 or 6 years ago Doncaster were a mid table Conference side, then they got a chairman with ambition and now they're looking at play-offs, have a new stadium, and acquitted themselves very well against a Tottenham side that will finsih high up in the Prem this season.
And AFC Wimbledon aren't too far behind, 7 years ago they didn't exist and now they're challenging in the Conference.0 -
Ugh, nose bleeding, can't take shock of 100% league record. This can't be Charlton unless we are in a parallel universe.

What are the finances like there? I heard that you were having to sell most of your best players, but were trying to hang onto Shelvey0

Finances seem to be parlous, but just enough to keep going until a takeover - which has been going on for weeks - comes to fruition. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
Jonjo is fantastic and I think all addicks harbour no illusions about him staying for s long time, but he did sign an extension to his contract and there is gossip that he wants to stay for a while yet. At least Chelsea are out of the running for him for now.
Having said that the players who have gone are the high payroll ones and we are pleased that the midfield is still intact - Sam, Semedo, Bailey, Shelvey and Racon could all easily play in the Championship, maybe higher.
Come on you addicks!!!!!!!!!
