While we are on the subject does anyone know why their are so many different sizes of post? 27.2mm is standard road size so why did mtbs start to do all sizes under the sun?!

You'll probably find that most full suss XC bikes have a 30.9mm seatpost.

Another yes for giant, i believe most specalized do as well.

As for the older tomacs they use 31.6mm mostly, don't know about the new ones.

AM guessing most other parts on a frame should be a straight swap for another frame (providing front mech is same fitment). :roll:
