I'm trying to see if I can catch a bargain in the sales and I have turned my attention to saddles. I've whittled my choice down to these 3. Please vote in the poll! Any suggestions are welcome, but no more than £40! I'd be interested to hear if anyone has had any experience with any of there three saddles.

Prices are as quoted by CRC.

I think SDG Bel Airs are going for like £17 on merlin.
  • I would try a Fizik Gobi over these.I have an Arione on my roadbike, which is similar to the Tundra, and I find the Gobi more comfortable.

Charge Knife? Great saddle if you've got the right shaped bum for it. Probably a medieval torture device if you don't.

Cobbles are all very well but I'd rather be riding towards the South of France
  • Thanks all - some useful suggestions there :-)

Just out of interest, why is no one keen on the Bioflex Carbon?

  • My vote goes to the Charge Spoon, really cheap and comfy and fairly light too.
  • I've done a bit of searching and I am quite keen on the Charge Spoon or Knife. The knife is the more expensive, but is 40g lighter. The question I really need to ask is; is the comfort sacrifice worth 40g?!

I like the look of them both in white - I'm hoping to get a white frame and I think a white saddle would look pretty sweet :-)

Well... I have both a Spoon (in black) and a knife (in sexeh white) I don't find the knife any less comfy, except when sitting forward for climbing. The hull is well shaped and the rails seem a little springier. It's less padded- but still has a little give- but the big difference is just losing some of the shaping on the nose and tail, which I don't really miss much. It's a different feel but it's not neccesarily less comfy.

I do think the Spoon's more of an everybum shape while the Knife, you'd need to fit it right.

  • Thanks Northwind! I think the spoon is winning me over. It is pretty lightweight and it sounds as though everyone finds it comfortable!

Is there much difference between the Spoon Cromo rail and Ti rail versions? I'd guess the Ti version is a bit lighter, but is it much lighter?

Not much... I didn't think it was worthwhile so I got the cromo one. But, if the rails are like on the Knife it probably makes for a slightly comfier ride too, so that might make it more worthwhile.

  • I'm very tempted... but now struggling to find anywhere that has one in stock!
  • There was a brown one I spied in the classifieds, or try eBay that's where I got mine
