Techy downhill rides needed in Calderdale

Hi all,

I am into riding anything thats very techy and gravity fed whether its 30 metres long or a couple of K long but am struggling to find enough places to feed the need!! The black route at Stainburn is very good but sick of going there now and I have done all the local crags i.e. Farnhill, Cowling, Embsay etc Apparently Calderdale (Hebden Bridge,Todmorden) has some fantastic challenges but I only know 2 of them.
I am not particularly bothered about about big epic rides, I just like to ride to the tech sections and session them for a while then move onto the next.
If this is your style of riding and you know the area I would be massively appreciative (STOKED in biker terms - lol) if you could point me in the right direction.

Cheers

    Meh.

Well I know a few but I can't see that sessioning them is going to be very rewarding. You'd probably be better off going to Lee Quarry or Gisburn Forest.

  • Hi Dave,

Cheers for the reply. Gisburn is ok but would not really say its a challenge, enjoyed the big berms and the slab leading down to the smaller berms and Lee Quarry black run is ok but neither are steep enough or challenging enough.
When i say things to session i mean like "mmbop steps" at heben or the "blue pig descent", I enjoy putting things like that in a ride then when i get to them i can have a play for a while picking the best line etc.
Where do you ride and what sort of terrain is it?

    Cheers

I think you'll be struggling to be honest.

If you don't find Lee Quarry steep enough or challenging enough, there isn't really anything that would be of interest that I can think of.

I've been riding around this area for nigh on 20 years on and off and I just can't think of anything more extreme than Lee Quarry black run.

Yes I have. If it's that level of difficulty you're after then there's definitely nothing that I know of in the area.
