A friend at work has offered me a Carrera bike. Just wandering if there was previously another Carrera make other than Halfords own? Seems her husband got given it for payment of a carpetting job some years ago and they just want it out of the garage.
Can we fix it?
Yes we can!

There's also an Italian brand of the same name, making some much flashier bikes, e.g.

Don't know how widely this brand is sold in the UK, as there might be legal issues relating to Halfords (whose own Carrera bikes have been in the shops since the days of the Ever Ready pro team in the late 80s at the very least).

The bike in the link looks pretty ugly.0

pantani once rode the carrera bikes david belcher describes.
the op's bike is almost certainly a halfords one. you might be in luck, as the older 6061 t6 aluminium frames were made by merida, rather than the more generic 7005 frames they use now.riding on my bicycle, i saw a motorcrash…0 -
think the worst thing about the current carrera bikes is that you have to go to halfords to buy on, the bikes are fine I'd be happy if someone gave me one.
I'll have it if you don't want it.Saracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

My friend has brought the bike into work with her tonight and it is a Halfords Carrera.
Virtuoso made of Tange Cro-mo. Has a quill stem with STI style brake pod units.
Dunno how good it'll be but at least for the time being it will replace my previously stolen road bike. It looks a bit big though!
