edited September 2009 in MTB rides
If anyone's interested I'm willing to lead a ride in the Todmorden/Hebden Bridge area on Saturday 12th September.

Start point - Todmorden Leisure Centre top car park on Ewood Lane, Todmorden (map link HERE)

Nearest postcode for tw@t-nav users is OL14 7DF

Start time - meet at 9:15am for 9:30 start

Distance - about 20 to 25 miles - should take about 5 hours at a leisurely pace.

Surfaces - everything from tarmac to steep, rocky single-track with everything in between

You'll need to bring - yourself, your bike and everything you'd normally take for a day on the trails. You'll never be far from civilisation but bring food and drink too.

NOTE - this ISN'T a race - it's a leisurely day out on the trails in some stunning scenery. Leave your race head at home and just concentrate on enjoying yourself.

All abilities welcome - even if you think that 20 miles sounds a bit much as a beginner, come anyway - you might surprise yourself.

If you want a route map, please PM me your e-mail address.

  • What a shame it's a Saturday. I'm interested, but the wife works Saturdays until approx. 2pm ish, so I have to look after the kids. I'm sure I could've got my mate to come too.

It's a good idea though, good for people to get together and experience different rides/scenery etc.

  • Hi,

I am going to try and covince the other half this is a good idea, if I can manage it I will join you.

I am fairly new to this off road biking lark, just taken the caravan on a rally field right next to dalby forest toll booth, I biked in at 5:45 AM and did the full red route plus biking in and out.

It was fantastic and I am now well and truly hooked, would like to meet up with others and learn more about bikes, I pretty much know diddly squat.

  • This is just what I've been looking for, i.e. someone showing me some routes in the area, unfortunately I work Sat mornings :-(
If you ever do one on a sunday give me a shout I'll definitely be there.
  • if i've got my car back before the weekend count me in :)

It's only down the road really..so i'm up for it... need someone to show me some local routes!

I'll be on the Surge but fitness shouldn't be a bother..... reccomended protection?
Helmet is a must, what about knee pads?

If anyone fancies a really big ride this weekend around Burnley / Rossendale / Calderdale / Rochdale the Mary Townley Challenge is on. Starts from Fearns school in Waterfoot. It's on Sunday, being organised by the local mountain rescue. You can enter on the day (£20 entry fee but that does include food at the checkpoints and profits go to the rescue guys).

    More details here.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

If anyone still interested I'm more than happy to meet up near Bebden Bridge and go out for the morning.

    Was thinking something like this...

Let me know if anyone interested. Was all psyched up for tomorrow so will do this route anyways if nobody interested.

Or we could curtail the route at Widdop and drop down into Hebden via Hardcastle Craggs
