Yes folks, thats right, I was called a "fixed wheel, twat, c**t!" last night on the way home by another cyclist!!

Said "roadie" on his Saracen road bike passed me on the flat....I was spinning out a bit!

So, I simply got in his slip stream and then took him on Filton Hill....stating "you need to get some stronger legs" as I rode by him - I annihilated him up the hill!

Anyway, I thought I should play with this one, so, I slowed up and let him take me on the flat again - "c**t" shouted as he went by......

So, I took him again on Monks Park hill and laughed at him as I went by. Suffice to say, I got the hammer down, he tried to keep up for a bit, then faded and did not see the fella again.....

What a c**t!

Yep, I did not know the guy was slip streaming me!
  • Perhaps he has read the lfgf and assumes that is the way all fixed riders talk?

He was merely trying to be friendly.

Could just be my lack of understanding the Brizzle accent.
  • Wait, you drafted him then overtook him and were a bit of a prat, and you're surprised he was rude to you?

    Do not understand.

    In a playground way...

    "He started it!"

Drafted me and called me a **** to start with! Just thought it was a little unfriendly, from one cyclist to another.

So, he got served...as I believe the phrase is from my teen offspring.
  • Very ungentlemanly if he simply shot his mouth off at you, but I must admit it sounds like the "stronger legs" comment was the spark? The saga continues...

Was anything said before you overtook him on the hill?

The way that reads it sounds as if you drafted him then mocked him as you passed, for no reason, and were indeed being a c*nt.

Unless there is more to it then it sounds like a fair assessment to me.

No, no, no. Unless I've misread it the 'c**t' came first, so to speak

If he insulted you first then the mockery was fair, right and proper and I withdraw my previous post.

  • I think the initial phrase of the "fixed wheel etc" came from the roadie on his way past the 1st time?

That's how I read it anyway...

Ah I see! Poor grammer on my behalf...!

Yes, as he passed me before the hill - he had been drafting me! He called me a "fixed wheel tw*t, c**t" as he went passed me first off!

So, he initiated preceedings then I took him on the hill and retorted about stronger legs.....!

I always say hello to other cyclists I meet on the road during my commute - they are a bit of a rarity amongst the elderly in 'blue rinse' East Devon.
Most of them remain stoically silent, but I might get a nod every now and again!
Obviously cycling in a city is much more 'sociable'!

Maybe he was South African and meant "Fixed wheel, fool, can't!"

    Like this.

Did he have a hat hard on?

    Not true.

I was at some lights yesterday evening with 4 other cyclists. 1 jumped the lights, I and the other 3 waited. Thus I have conclusively proved that 80% of london cyclists do not jump red lights.

I didn't say hello to anyone though, because I'm British, and a city dweller, and that just wouldn't be cricket.

T'was the opposite for me this morning. Out of 5 bikes that hit the lights after they went red at one crossroads, I was the only one who stopped. Thing is I ended up going past them once I had the green light less than two minutes later.

    Bit uncalled for wasn't it.

I passed a guy on a carbon TT bike, full kit, shaved legs, on my 74" fixed (I had rucksack & baggies) - he then tailed me for some miles - about 8-9 miles.... We separated at one point, then I saw him again going for the long drag to home. My light's then changed about a minute later........passed him again on the climb and I shouted a cheery "Hello again"....this time he said 'oh no' and started laughing. Anyway got into a conversation at the top of the hill, now stuck in traffic. He lives near me, commutes the same way, from Poland, and we are planning on a few weekend spins - both sick of going out solo....

I hasten to add, I am from the North - bit friendlier up 'ere....heh..heh... 8)

Is this going to turn into another RLJing thread :?
