hey I've got a Specialized FSR expert and want to get the crank arms off, so i can get all the grime out.
The cranks are Shimano FC-M521, Hollowtech, Octalink spline with a Shimano BB-ES25 Octalink spline Bottom Bracket.
Ive tried a conventional crank remover tool, but that doesnt work as the BB is hollow
also it isnt a two piece so i cant just take one off then bash the other side out either.
any advice on how to remove my crank?

you need an Octalink/isis crank puller. Or adapter for your puller if available.
pics of the different ends can be seen on Parktools."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

My previous Octalink crank was self extracting, perhaps yours is the same.
Does it have a round washer at the front with two little holes in? If so use an 8mm hex key on the bolt behind it then it will pull itself off the axle.0 -
use a penny beneith the crank puller to give it purchase on the axle...0

cheers for the advice,
ill try the penny idea. but if that doesnt work i will have to buy a new crank remover tool.0 -
I use a suitably sized flat domed bolt as an adapter. The pennies can bend!0

yep lol just tested it. pennies bend.
