new freehub or freewheel needed for the rear wheel.

or the chain is missing or the teeth on all the cogs are worn/missing or.....

  • sounds nasty, how much is that gonna set me back?
  • usually chain and cassette get replaced together - cheap from halfords 10er each and 15 to fit usually

well it depends on what is wrong. and what has gone. As you give no usable info as to what you actually have it could cost anything.

have a look at your bike and see what is happening Or not happening and also let us know make/model/year of the bike if the wheels are original oe what the hub/wheel is.

  • okay whats happening is, the chain and pedals are going round, the gear system at back is also going round but intermittently it crunches and then the pedals provide no pulling power. Sounds like when chain slips. The sound is coming from rear wheel. after a few turns the gear system seems to bite again and works normally. I haven't a clue what wheel model numbe rit is but it is a giant terrago circa 95 I think.

Hope this is slightly more help than before...

Sounds like the freewheel/freehub is on the way out. And maybe the drivetrain is worn too it being that old.
