Hi Guys,

Not my normal form, being a roadie, but I am heading up to Scotland next week, I will be staying right next to the Isle of Seil near Ardmaddy Castle and the only bike I am taking is my hardtail. I was wondering if anyone had any local routes/rides that they wouldn't mind sharing? I don't mind road (obviously) but looking for some decent trails too.

I know one route that takes me over to Degnish Point and then heads round the coast back to the main road. I'm getting fed up of that route though as I use it every time I visit the area. Anything else I could try in the area would be much appreciated!

  • you could go up to oban and have a once round kerrera.
you could down to the fire tower by lochgilphead. i haven't been in a while but last i was there it was a bit rough and ready but all the more entertaining for it. what's more you'll most likely have it all to yourself. something to bear in mind if you're up for an over the bar excursion.
or you go around tayvallich, the bot where they've got the beavers - i'm tpp lazy to look at the map to remember the name - you can do a loop right round there and make it longer by going round the loch.
or have a look at the walking trail they've got down argyll. i;ve done the bit down at macrahanish and while it's entertaining it's also well sketchy but the bits further up look as if they go thru some interesting country
