Opinions on Ksyrium Premiums vs 'regulars'

Hi
I have been offered a good price on a new wheelset
I ride sportives, the occasional race but more often just want an unfair advantage to lather my mates on a Saturday morning
The choice is between the new Ksyrium premium or a set of regular SL's at 100 pounds less
I like the stealthy look of the newer wheelset but thats as much as I know
Opinions welcome

The Premiums just have Ti skewers and a bit of Ti hardware for a hefty saving of a couple of grams, all at the hub, not worth it at all IMO.0

Personally I wouldn't touch Kyrsiums, but if you are getting a real bargain....
why ?0 -
like 99% of riders who have used Ksyriums, I found them strong, reliable and very strong, but perhaps a little bit too stiff. Mine finally gave up this year due to worn rims- probably 50000km in all conditions after 5 years. I replaced them with some Shamals - slightly less stiff but feel less harsh and a lot more bling in gold!Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

dodgy build quality- sl's are usually ok but my rear k elite has never been true/round and my mates rear aksium totally collapsed ( i did advise that he should consult his physician)'dont forget lads, one evertonian is worth twenty kopites'0 -

You seem to go against the trend: normally you would buy Aksium and Ksyrium for reliability. Never had Ksyriums, but the low budget Aksium are very good value for moneyleft the forum March 20230 -

Ooh red the ksyrium hater strikes again. Man, there's nothing wrong with these wheels. Mine are six years old now and still going strong, don't understand your beef.0 -
I have to say both my Aksiums and Ksyriums were great.0

My SL's are too. They're starting to look a bit worn after 7 years, but are still perfectly functional, and have never needed any maintenance.0

My Kysrium SL's are ok enough - the rear one has come out of tru through, by about 1-2 mm - not sure why, as I only weigh 10 stone '9 - have hit potholes though so that could be the reason.0

The majority of factory wheels ate overpriced, and not very aero, and these are no different.
I wouldn't bother with fulcrums either for the same reason.
If you can live without the labels get some light handbuilts.0 -

I've had Ksyrium Equipes in the past and they were decent but my Fulcrum Racing 3 are so much better, they spin much better than any other wheel I've had and they are not too heavy. According to reviews they are great for heavier riders like me.
I also have Aksiums, decent wheels for the money.x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

Are you telling us what to get or merely suggesting? I have both, carbon mavics and kysirium es wheels and they are both outstanding. Fair enough you don't like them but do an outright on people, I think it may be misleading. just my opinion, not a fact. 8)0 -

im not commenting on their vfm im simply stating that in my experience the build quality can be variable-not something ive experienced with campag/fulcrum wheelsets'dont forget lads, one evertonian is worth twenty kopites'0 -

the sl ksyrium are great, just not as great as a pair of custom built wheels (i think)
