it's new hydropack time...C'bak Chaos is still goin well but is just too small in both cargo and reservoir capacities...am undecided whether to buy the Camelbak Havoc or the Dakine Nomad...I know that the new Havoc NV has a great back panel...but its a whoppin price! Between the original Havoc '09 and the Nomad '09 which has the better back-ventilation? the slimmer profile? the best features? is most durable & waterproof? and is most wearable for 5-7 hrs in the saddle?...am trying to avoid sweaty back and a bulky, low load!

i would recommend the wing-nut backs, but they are specifically designed to keep load low on the hips.
i think they are great.0 -
Deuter AC Lite 15.
It has the same features as on the bigger packs, most importantly a lightweight metal frame that keeps the pack completely off your back, only a highly taught mesh touches your back.
I have quite a few Deuter packs that I use for a variety of sports and all are amazing. Can be quite pricy, but well worth it IMO.
You don't get a bladder with it so remember to add that on to the cost. Platypus do good bladders for a very reasonable price. A 2l one will cost you around £17 from Blacks.0 -
pretty sure I'v it narrowed to the Havoc and Nomad...both have similar capacities, both have a XC helmet compartment and both are a similar price...its the finer details i'm after of features, performance & comfort."KEEP 'ER LIT N FILL YER BOOTS!"0

i have the nomad and it has a slim profile when it contains the basics and a full bladder. when it comes to features don't think it can be beaten and has a comfy back panel that i can wear for up to 5 hours no problem and i don't get a too sweaty back either. have been out in a few heavy downpours lately and everything inside has stayed dry no problem.0

I use Deuter Compact EXP 12 and would highly recommend it. light, comfortable, excellent organisation, superbly designed, stowable rain cover...fits a 3l bladder too but you have to buy it seperately.
has 2 pads which keep the majority of the pack away from your back and acts as a chimney to vent hot air out of the top - seems to work pretty well.0 -
dakine nomad for me mate. you`re never going to combat sweaty back syndrome but this pack certainly keeps it to a minimum, very comfy to carry while full, loads of pockets and adjustable features, bloody expensive but worth every penny!
