Recommend a 26" rim?

Hey all.
I have Mavic X321 disc rims on my MTB, and I need to get a new rear wheel built. The current rim has some tiny hairline cracks/fractures around quite a few of the spokes which is a little concerning (though it's been fine for the last 2 months!)
Anyhow, I'm looking to get at least a new rear rim. I was looking for something lighter, as the X321 rim is quite heavy, at over 500g. I was looking at the X717 Disc which is approx 200g lighter, but still has a level of sturdiness associated with it - it needs to cope with my 18 stone+ figure
I'm looking to get it built at my LBS, Albany Cycles (Coventry) who I believe has a good rep for wheel building.
Any other disc compat rims I should think about? Not looking to spend more than £60 - £70 (already have a Hope hub which I'll get serviced at the same time).
Edit: Another consideration is the tyre thickness. I have 2.2" slicks but being able to put slimmer tyres on would be of interest

What are you going to use it for?
How graceful a rider are you?
I use X717s, admittedly I'm about half your weight, but they have withstood (graceful!) 7 foot drops alright. For general commuting, they'll be fine.0 -
Mavic XC717's all the way, excellent rim. I've had them on several bikes now and wouldn't go for anything else. They've survived many a good thrashing offroad, so commuting will be fine. Check out Merlin (http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/) who build excellent wheels at a reasonable price.
Why the wide slicks? I'd go for something around 1.5" which are still pretty wide for a slick.0 -
My Mavic 321's take a wide tyre. Accoding to the info on their website I can;t fit anything much thinner. That's what I'm hoping to fix with a new rim
I'm planning to use it for commuting about 5 to 10 miles on road and maybe the odd dirt track. Nothing major
I'm going to get a quote from my LBS I reckon. Anyone know if I can send a hub to merlyn and have them build a wheel aaround it?FCN Daily commute = 11
