Hi, how much did I spend on the Burgess Hill sportive? Thought I saw your poster on Cob lane. Can't do this event, but looks good so I'll look out for your events in the future. Just what low gear do I need for cob lane?

Cob Lane is best done on a very low gear; the trick is to allow all your momentum from the long descent to slow right down (in all of 6 feet!) then twiddle very slowly up the first bit; there is a brief respite in the middle then twiddle up the last RH bend;
if you try to attack it it will bite back!
I've done it on all sorts of gears inc 42x23 (not advised) 39x26 and 34x26 but the best is 30x25 IMO
I've never seen anyone get up it on fixed...
I believe a 200km ride used to use it, that's just plain silly0 -

have you got the right route sheet? I have you down for the Hillier which I haven't quite finalised the route sheet for just yet, probably be ready Friday.
ps did I pass you in Kent on Monday? (Ardechoise top) I was having a flat rest on the Invicta 1000
