Winter Riding

I know it’s only Sept but before we know it the clocks will have changed and the inclement weather will be here to test us. I fully intend on riding through the winter and I’m going to spend some money on appropriate clothing.
I don’t tend to ride my motorbike much in the winter because the salt on the roads ruins it… It’s not too bad in the dry but I’d never take it out in the wet. All exposed metals and fasteners will be ruined in one season. So I’m a little anxious about the effects on my bike after a winter of daily commuting.
Do any of you take any precautions or do I need to just accept the fact that my bike will be ruined..?

it's a bike not an oil painting. It won't look showroom, but with usual maintenance and some heavier chain lube and it will be fine.road0

Put some guards on it, lube it regularly, clean it occasionally.
job done. Not climber, not sprinter, not rouleur0 -
It won't be ruined if you clean it regularly, wipe the wheel rims and brake blocks etc to avoid wear. +1 for the above too.
Besides, it starts getting lighter again soon. Okay, in 3.5 months' time.FCN 2-4.

Just got new bike, but will not be precious about it. I intend to ride as much as possible during winter, only exceptions would be horizontal rain, or really freezing/snow.
As long as you wash it down now and again, keep chain lubed, then it should perform well. I intend to get it serviced in the spring to make sure it is tip top for new season. However I may switch between Tricross and MTB on slicks if the weather is pretty bad.
Roads here can be pretty bad, and get well salted."Encyclopaedia is a fetish for very small bicycles"0
