...some drivers expect us to be from the kerb at all times?

Perhaps this is partly the reason for some of the rubbish and abuse? I was just thinking about this today after reviewing this section to "wind up" another Troll on Youtube. Sometimes the HC doesnt help us. :?

    I'd imagine a lot of none cyclists don't realise it's rarely possible for us to cycle very close to the kerb. If you haven't ridden a bike on the roads you don't know about the grids, the lack of surfacing, the leaves and broken glass, and the risk of pedal strike.

    I've been forced over by aggressive overtaking several times, and forced right off the road once by an idiot in a big red SUV who got so close my pedal bottomed out on the kerb, and I more or less fell onto the pavement.

    tbh I thought you had to ride that close to the kerb until I actually tried it. But the road surface is just too bad (not that the surface in the middle of the road is much better on some roads around here).
