was looking at this for £350
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165499
but for £100 cheaper is this

am i missing something major here or is it just the diffrence in brakes, and is that worth the diffrence in cost, theres also the other carrea one
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_208956
same price but none lockable forks, does it make a differnce

am so tempted buy the carrera 09,but thought best to ask advice of those who may know, just incase i missing something

You're not missing anything, you're quite wright.
£100 more for just hydro brakes is a bit silly, but hey it's not silly if it fits better.
You should try both and see which feels better, the GT and the 09 Carrera (it looks better).

well not just the brakes for the extra £100,you get the GT frame as well, a frame can make all the differance to your ride so give both a try and see what you like best.

The tektro io mechanical brakes are ok but there not a patch on hydros.

Try searching the forum too - dozens of comments on these bikes.
  • went to local halfords had neither bike in stock(or in area),got the dunno when well get them again either line.back to square one i guess.

unless some one knows a sim spec bike for same price range for me to invesigate,i stuck at halfords restocking,or ebay which would rather avoid

I bet you can find a GT at a good price online somewhere, and most bike shops will stock a GT so give one a try then look online for a bargin.last years model will be cheap or the one before that even cheaper!
