Yes im a thick nob but the operation of my left lever is oposite to the right.

should it be like that. when i pull the trigger on my right hand with my finger it moves the rear mech up the cassette.

can i change this operation.

i believe the levers are 2 way

ive come from road racing and always had campag.

sorry you cant change the direction.

both levers operate by pulling the cable when you push the big lever.

you could change the one on the right by using a rapid rise or normal rear mech (depends on what you have fitted now).

What he meant was is it a rapid rise rear mech or normal rear mech

Which way does the rear mech spring return to naturally?

  • pull with my finger to go up the rear mech

press with my thumb to go down the rear mech

looks like the rear mech springs up the cassette

    any clearer?

It should be like that and no you can't really change it. You can change the right hand side by going rapid rise but that will mean shelling out some cash.

The two way means that the back shift lever (the one furthest towards the front of the bike) can be operated by pushing or pulling.

Even if it feels weird you'll get used to it after a few rides.

I think my shimano road kit is the same. Shift inwards to get the smaller sprocket at the front on the left and inwards to get the bigger sprocket on the right and back.
