Sorry another tyre thread. I have started riding with a group of riders from another forum while this is fun my speeds have increased to the point where I am nearly crashing all the time :) . My front tyre is really struggling for grip. I've tried different fork settingss and tyre pressures also altering my posistion on the bike.

So basically I am after a tyre that will help my lack of skill etc preferably UST around 2.1 as I don't think my Trek 8500 will take much bigger. I have looked at the Panaracer Rampage/Kenda Nevegal UST but any other options would be nice. Not bothered if they wear quickly though something durable would be nice. Thanks

I've said it before but this is a good alternative.

Meant to grip in the corners a bit better and rolls much better, think of it as an improved version of the nevegal.

    Here are some reviews anyway.

either high roller, not sure how botherd you are with weight, but you can get steel bead or folding, the single or double ply
i run a supertacky 2.35 up front and it has been on my bike for 8 months and is still gripping like glue (i ride 2 or 3 times per week) so on the front the super tacky will last.
if you want even more grip but a bit heavier go for a minion, its a full on DH tyre really.

my advice is to go for the 2.35 folding high roller on the front, its very grippy but quite light too, think you can get it in super tacky

what ever you choose make sure it is a fairly decent sized tyre, a 2.1 on the front is a waste of time
Dont look at it-ride it! they are tools not f*cking ornaments

  • Thanks for the replys. Is it true what I've read that Kenda does not like people using Stans sealant etc with their tyres? I have a huge issue with thorns where I live so sealant for me is nearly mandatory.

I pulled 3 thorns out of my front tyre when I removed it yesterday. My other option is to add the sealant to inner tubes. Anyone tried this?

Kenda don't but the tyres themselves are fine, might take a bit more on the dtc tyres as the sidewalls are thinner but apart from that meant to be good.
