I thought I would share this one, as it really does seem great value and is just the job for my maintenance needs.

I got it from SJS cycles from their flea bay store. It was 25 quid plus a tenner post. I had a look at the one on CRC for around £50 and it looks identical.

It holds the bike nice and tight and is very stable, you can also work on the bike from both sides.

    easy to assemble?

  • Had one of these a few years ago, but sold it when I got my Morewood.
It wont hold a frame that doesn't have a round downtube, the Shova has a square one.

P!ss easy, took me 5 mins with a 10mm spanner. Screw the clamp assembly together and bolt the feet on and your away.

I have been looking for a work stand for a while, but never wanted to pay the usual £60 plus for one. I had a little stand that lifts the back wheel off the ground so you can adjust the gears etc, but it killed my back after a while. But this is excellent for the money and a perfect height to work on. Not sure how good it would be on bikes with mega swoopy down tubes though, as they might be a little awkward to clamp on.

I bought one of those last summer in a Netto in the South of France for 17 Euros :D:D:D

  • Would it work with a bike that has cables running under the bottom bracket?

i have one of those too and its ace for the money. i had to buy another different type when i bought a giant reign as it wouldnt hold the frame as the shock was in the way.

ive not tried it with my enduro or stumpy but i think the shock is in the way on that too.

that's a shame, i'm in the Market for a credit crunch freindly work stan but my Enduro and Shocker both have box section frames.

It the last bit I need for my home workshop :-(
  • Really similar one in decathlon for £30, I bought one about three months ago and it's top.

Any idea of this would fit an '09 Zesty? The downtube is a kind of triangular shape in cross section with a flatish underside.

I have one, its great. Only thing is you can't remove the rear wheel when it's in the stand.

Bought one of these the other day when i saw this thread.

Thanks for the recommendation! fantastic bit of kit.
  • Thanx darra8
£35 you can't go wrong, ordered one wednesday came this morning put the bike on it
to see what it looked like height wise, perfect.
i saw some people say they couldn't get there rear wheel out when the bike was on the stand, if anybody has a boardman ht you can get the rear wheel out when the bike is on the stand.
And the misses has just walked in saying she there's a knocking on her bike,
new bottom bracket in the morning to fit :D
