im off up to cannock at the weekend and i just wanted to find out what other riding there is to do up there apart from follow the dog??

i used to ride up there every week untill about 4 years ago so got a reasonable idea on the lay of the land.

we used to park in a car park at the bottom of the old english way ??

there was iirc a lot of riding over by the rifle butt/quarry??

can anyone refresh my memory for me and give me an idea on whats over there now!!

cheers

steve

  • The lads at Chase Trials are busy completing the extensions called Phase 2 and altering the original Follow the Dog.

I get over to the chase about once a month, follow the dog is a simple 7 mile loop, easy red really but is good for a thrash around. Straight into tight singletrack in the trees and no real hills to climb.

Phase two will be opened for the spring next year but from the bits I did take the bike down, one called "the monkey" are looking very good, lot more technical than the present route.

At the moment I usually do follow the dog and then go around the old rifle range which has a few un official routes.

    Hope this helps

Ben is the man to follow. He knows some great loops!

Tut tut. It's bad enough with MX bikes riding it and people thinking it's a new dog walking route without having MTBrs on it before it's open. All will be revealed Easter 2010.
  • I have only done the monkey once and that was ages ago. Way before they they were all closed again. I must of been 1 of hundreads who have done the monkey. When routes are talked a out on forums, it's brings out the inquizative side of humans.
