I'm already thinking ahead to next Easter when I can get another R2W scheme voucher. I think i'd like to get a fixie for commuting on - and don't mind spending in the region of £1K.

I've spent most of the morning avoiding work a browing bikes on tiniternet. So far I think i've got m heart set on one of these:

Does anyone have one or ridden one? If so what are they like?

It's a very nice bike, I've got the model below (pista) as my winter hack and it's great. light responsive and a comfortable ride.

they will size you and make the bike the right size for you... got for it

are you thinking of a fixed fixed hub or SS/Fixed? as that'll mean an extra brake at the back

The extra brake on the back's not a bad idea whichever way you go.

It's a very pretty bike! But my Bob Jackson was cheaper, has some nicer bits, and is more unusual. Just sayin' :)

My flatemate has just put in an order for a Kinesis Decade.. really nice basic bike which can be upgraded for winter duties with mudguards, etc.. think it was £560?

Only issue is it only comes with a front brake so he's paid out to get an extra one fitted to the back as he'll be switching it from a fixie to single speed with a freewheel.

I was thinking that i'd get a rear brake put on so I could switch between fixed and SS, I guess its probably worth trying to experience riding a proper fixie to see how I find it before deciding which way I want to go.

There definitely a hugh number of very nice single speed bikes out there - too many to choose from really . :D

I have a Decade. Fab bike, but are you sure about the rear brake thing? I specced a frame to order but was fairly sure the complete bike comes with a rear brake. Got mine from FatBirds.

Also one bit of advice, it's a "fixed" not a "fixie."
