or

B) take em to LBS for true-ing?

  • Seems to be a common fault with the crossrides.

It's common on alot of wheels to require some retensioning of spokes, not just Crossrides.

It even sez it in most owners manuals.

Why do you think bike shops offer a free 6 week check up? Once things have bedded in they often need adjusting at some point.

Most good bike shops will true a wheel you got off them for free in the first month or so like Steve said.

properly built wheels don't need it if they've been pre-stressed properly. But often it is easier to build them quickly, ride them for a few weeks to pre-stress them then re-tension and repeat for a few months to get them dead even.
  • That is very true.

Saying that, should i disregard the reviews of the crossides spokes coming loose, and put that down to a simple maintenance issue?
Was quite interested in a pair, but the reports of spokes coming loose put me off, however if its just a case of maintenance then that wouldnt be a problem.

well if i bought a set i'd give them a going over when they arrived check they were even and well pre-stressed. then they'll almost certainly be fine...
  • Well thats made my mind up :)
