hi i ride on roads and a bit of road, but i dont want a road bike i prefer ht mountain bikes.my budget is roughly 3ooo.can you recomend thanks terry. :?:0

If you ride mostly on roads, with a bit of road, then have you considered a hybrid? Will probably serve you better than a mountain bike.0
-
sorry i dont like hybrid bikes.ive been thinking of entering marathons.wondering which ht mountain bike would be best, would like something fast.terry0

Can I just ask what, specifically, you didn't like about hybrids?0
-
i just rather the chunky look of the mountain bike.and if i was doing some marathons the mtb would be better, especialy off road.oh yes and a bike that climes well, there are a lot of hills where i live.0

i have just been down that road bought a scott p4 hybrid from the cycle to work great bike but only lasted 2 months ,found it really hard work on trails even though iam a total noob and only managed 2 with it whinlatter (blue) mabie (green & blue ) and found it really hard going and tbh i felt it was wrecking the bike even at tortoise pace so got a rockhopper what a difference only wish i bought it first0 -

With a £3k budget for a hardtail you're not exactly likely to be getting anything slow!0 -
I you get a Stumpy Marathon (carbon) I may have to slightly hate you.0

The reason I asked is because I saw one of these Marin Hybrids recently, and seriously considered getting one to commute and train on.
For mostly road work, with occasional light off-roading, I swear that's the way to go.0 -
would a carbon or titanium framed bike be best suited for my type of riding.i want speed and good climing.0
-
Depends on the frame itself. How they are built makes such a big difference. Same for steel and aluminium.
Carbon however seems to offer some high frequency buzz reduction.0 -
I think with your buget you need to test ride some bikes, you don't want to end up with a £3k mistake.2010 Trek Fuel EX8
2009 Rockhopper Comp.0 -
yes i think i should test ride some bikes.im just so confused about which ones.so many to choose from.anyone tried any of the ones ive said about.0
