Trek 1.5 or Defy 3 (2010)

I'm new to the forum and new to road bikes, I'm about to buy my first and unsure which way to turn. I've read about each and been told by each local dealer that theirs is the best. The trek is obviously more expensive but is it worth it as I didn't really want to spend that much, but it is tempting.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Trek's in a different league to the Defy 3.
The 1.2 is the same price and even that is better specced than the Defy.
The Trek 1.5 though has Tiagra, Carbon Forks, Carbon Seatpost, lighter wheels.
Overall you can easily feel how lighter the Trek is over the Defy 3 and it feels much more comfortable to ride,FCN 8 Hybrid

The new Defy spec is not as good as last years. If they're the same price I'd go for a Trek 1.5, but try both of them before you buy,0

I'm off to make my purchase today. I will give both of them a try, but I'm edging closer to the trek than the giant. Thanks for the advise0

Get the Trek, I have recently bought a 09 1.5 and I love it. You will not regret it0

Right the Trek dealer is struggling to get hold of a 52cm 2010 1.5 and the Giant dealer will match the price of the 1.5 with a 2010 Defy 2, which will be in stock in 2 weeks. So the question now is the Giant defy 2 or Trek 1.5.0

The Trek has a poor frame (same as last year's 1.2) but better spec. The Giant has the same frame as their top model, but lower spec. If you want something worthy of future upgrades go for the Giant. If it's going to be ridden into the ground then cast aside go for the Trek0
