Are Ribble trying to diddle me?

Right further to my previous thread about 105/veloce for my new bike, i'm going to order the veloce on teh nero rc frame as the sportive is sold out. Forking out another 100 squid for the pleaseure but i'm getting sick of bike hunting and the winters round the corner. Some say i'm losing my mind and they may be right  .

Anyway to the point......i've added the bike to my basket and it shows £1099.99. Great no problem. When i then go to checkout, the price shows as £1199.99 without an explanation. If I then return to my basket then the price has changed there also. I assume this isn't VAT as this would be another 165ish i think.

Anyone know the score here?

EDIT: just noticed that the price remains at 1099 if i choose collect from store. Delivery is supposedly only 20 though so dont know whats happening. Would rather not have to phone them again tomo as the conversation i had with the guy there today was probably the most unhelpful of my life.

There's some kind of anomaly there. I would email them.they usualy reply within one or two days. Or just try the process online again tomorrow.

By the way I think you will be lucky if the bike's ready any time soon. Not wishing to sound too negative but their quoted build/delivery times are somewhat optimistic from my experience of ordering from them twice.

It definitely didn't do that when I got my Sportive. You're probably going to have to try and contact them - should only take a hundred or so phone calls.

Haha will give them a call in the morning then. Probably best, that way I can check they have everything in stock as well. They quote something like 10 days dont they? So long as it's here before the sportives come back in at the end of september then i can still justify buying it to myself!

I suggest e-mail Alan Gray was very good at getting baack to me, but I agree this is an anomaly, I paid the £20 delivery so its not that.

Just phoned up. To my surprise they have everything in stock and are even changing the wheels on the bike to aksiums as they're unable to get told of the campag ones!

Lets hope everything goes so smoothly when i phone back a little later to place the order.

BTW, how is Veloce pronounced? seeing as it's an italian company i've been saying Vee'lo'che

  • its not the charge for assembly is it?

I know the plantet X site adds a ton on for assembly, you have to uncheck a box to say 'I'll do the spannering'.

Nope, whatever it was it's working fine this morning thankfully. They dont seem to charge for assembly like PX do which is nice.

I say ve-loss. I don't think Campag intend you to use Italian pronunciation - would you say 'chentaur'?

Good point there. I need to get some cycling friends that speak instead of type!

    Cheers

    No, Veh-loh-chay, surely ?

The days when people pronounced the car as Ahf A Row-me-oh, are long gone - aren't they ?
  • I ordered the Nero RC (with Centaur) a week or two ago. No problems with the basket / checkout, just waiting now (and wondering what wheels I'll end up with)
