So I've recently bough a new bike ( Giant Anthem X3) for £935.
I wanted to know what insurance everyone is on and what locks do you use as part of the rated scheme by the insurance companies.
Also if any of you have had your bike stolen or damaged, what was it like claiming and what proof did you have to proveide. With end result?
Cheers

The best solution is to get M&S home insurance, ideally with away from home cover. This will cover anything you own up to 4k but obviously check your terms and conditions carefully.0

+1 for M&S
Will civer bike away from home as long as they are locked up (no lock specified) EXCEPT if it's IN your car. On a roof rack or bike rack IS covered but not IN your car.0 -

I'm yet to talk to my insurance but that last bit didn't sound to good.
As i drive a van,its alot more convenient to bung everything needed in that than take the car with a cycle carrier.
Is there(sorry to hijack) anybody using a van to carry a couple of bikes and gear and how do you get cover for that scenario?0 -

If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
Check with them but maybe they'll need to be locked up in the van ????0

what is with people saying about m and s home insurance.
Im with the aa and they have no problem with my 3000.00 bike and they have no requirments apart from lock it.
Just add it onto your own home insurance contents cover.
Some might do it some might not, but m and s is not the only game in town.0 -
I'm with M&S to, I'd be interested in seeing the policy wording that excludes a bike locked in a car though as I can't find it. There was a clause like that when I was with a specialist cycle insurer but I don't see it in the M&S terms...?
As for locks - only one choice IMO, http://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/ ... ory=basket0 -
try Evans cycles or butterworth for insurance. butterworth are cycle only insurance and thats all they deal with.if you aint broke it ya aint ridin hard enough0
