When using a C02 pump

How do you know when to stop inflating the tyre/not bursting the tube?

Do you need to inflate the tyre slightly with a normal pump (James, you did this with my bike on the slowcial)?

What is the difference between threaded and non-threaded what are the pros-cons?

    16g cartridge will inflate a 700cx23 to about 130psi.

Just pinch the tyre though. The Innovations inflater allows you to stop and start with it's trigger.

go nice and slow and keep pinching the tyre to check it's not too over inflated.

I use a hand a regular pump to put a little air in to get the tube in the tyre, but that's just because it is easier to get very delicate fine grained control out of a hand pump as opposed to an inflator.

I presume the threading is to keep the cartridge on the cuck, and the non threaded ones have a different attachment method, any other reasons?

I use a minipump to help me seat the tyre. Other than that just whack a whole cartridge into the tube, it'll be fine, I don't think they even get you to 120psi.

the pressure will get you to the end of your journey where you can use a track pump.

Aye, the pressure of having used your last cartridge and your mini pump is broken!!

I've got 2 spare at work and I carry 2 with me, at home I've got like 30 odd

if I get more than 2 punctures I'll get rage and throw a massive strop, probably say to myself: So this is ITB's life

    [pedant]It's CO2, not C02. Or really COsubscript2[/pedant].

I use a mini-pump to get the tyre on, and then a CO2 cartridge. It's just easier that way - I reckon I could get one on using just the cartridge, if I had to.

Threaded cartridges have a screw-thread on top, unthreaded ones don't. Different inflators take different types (some take both). There aren't really any huge pros/cons to either type.

You must like anal... :? because at a glance I couldn't even see the difference between O and 0.

    So even though I bought a Co2 pump I still need a mini-pump? :x

Why didn't I get one of those combination things?

With a presta valve you can blow enough air into the tube with your mouth to allow the tube to fill slightly. This is enough to get the tube into the tyre. Haven't tried with shrader but imagine you'd have to push the centre pin of the valve in with your teeth whilst blowing.

You must really have something against mini pumps to resort to this!

It is SO much quicker and easier than trying to fit a mini pump successfully to an unsecured, flaccid tube while managing not to break the valve. Try it!

    If I may interject

Stand back expert coming through, now then C02 16g mmmh! well in my extensive experience EXTENSIVE! I tell you a full 16g will never give you much more than 90-100PSI which is more than enough to ride on, well ride home at least.

Unlike tonight on my way home no C02 could fix that one
