For those of us who commute to the east on our way in..

W Mids forecast is 25 - 40mph westerlies in the morning, dropping to 10mph by hometime.

Bring it on! I was going to say I would go for a new record commute on the way in, but I know what happens when you refer to PB's and wind in the same paragraph! That said, it may be a day to set a there and back PB...

And I bet you the drafting fairies will still be trying to latch onto those back wheels.

Once its above 20 as a headwind it really is properly unpleasant. Gusts of 40 would practically stop me dead!

from the west, i.e. prevailing winds, though they seem to have a bit of south in them more often than not these days

Should live down here in the Smoke as the wind is much lighter according to the prediction for that date

no thanks - what's not to like about a massive tail wind in the morning and a very light head wind in the evening?! The smoke is not my cup of tea anyway, I'm a country bumpkin (apparently the dictionary definition is someone considered stupid because they don't live in a city) I can live with that if it means not living in one!

I cycle home from Bexhill to Eastbourne every day into a Westerly wind… Tonight’s is particularly strong and I’m not looking forward to it… I’m not super fit and it really saps my speed.
Annoyingly there is never much of a westerly breeze first thing to help me on my way… Waits until midday before it blows up.
    It’s God’s way of mocking me…

I have the same problem - almost due west -> east in the morning and the reciprocal is a nightmare. I've learned to live with it and just accept I may need a lower gear at times on the way home

Nice one rich158, glad the recovery was quicker than expected SCS got something to do with it???

I ride west to east in the morning, east to west in the morning - the wind is certainly tiring, but I have 70m less height gain on the way home, so it is still usually quicker
