I am thinking about buying this stem for my bike build...however i have an spare x4 mtb stem which would fit as i would be buying the same size fitting etc.Would it make any difference handling-wise.Or it would just not" look right" or be too stiff and heavy etc.

The X4 is a tad heavier but still fine. I run an X4 on my roadie in winter (with a Hope faceplate for the LED).

As to not looking right, both are available in 0 and 10 degree as far as I know, so the only difference is the X4 is a tad burlier, but it's still a handsome beast.

The X4 has a 4 bolt faceplate, whilst the X2 has (funny old world!) a 2 bolt one.

Some h/bar manufacturers (Easton being one) very specifically say in their instructions not to use 4 bolt stems with certain of their products (My EC90 bars for example).

No doubt it's fine in the real world, but just a heads up....
