Sidi buckle limit?

Is it a good idea to wear a pair of Sid's if the Ultra SL buckle ratchet is on the 3rd, 2nd or 1st notch? Basically at the limit of the ratchet in terms of width usage, so there is virtually nothing extra showing on the strap (talking Genius Pro 5's specifically).
I know it may sound like a daft question in a way, but do Sidi's hold up to that OK and do any others wear them on their width limit?
Again likely on this forum I am talking sh*te, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

dont worry they will hold. my sidi 07 genius 6.6 are on 2 and it holds.
im guessing you already know to snip off about 3 quarters of the excess to stop it pinging off the crank arm

Cheers for the info bobpzero, I didn't know that about the excess and yep they look similar to the ones, these being the straps themselves on the flap covers; sidi_ultra-strap_04.jpg.jpg

major  my mistake. my ankles would be crushed if i had the Caliper Straps closed all the way. id suggest adding a 3mm insole from inov8 that is if your feet have a bit too much movement. you really shouldnt need to put the Caliper Strap all the way to its limit & overtightening will be quite painful. hopefully you will find a happy balance of comfort and performance.

Ahh the mistake in the description is mine my friend  I meant at the limit the other way. I have a wide top of the foot, so the strap is at it's width limit (as in no more to spare in the lenght of the strap but 2 or so clicks out) not it's closed limit

What socks are you wearing with that ? I'd bear in mind that feet do swell in the heat, and also if you're riding through winter - I'd want to be able to wear thicker socks.

You could look at the Mega sizes - thats a wider fitting as Sidi are a very skinny foot design, or check out other manufacturers. I prefer specialized now - the Sidi Genius I wore were a pain with that buckle design - the pin kept working out, and the mechanism broke in the end - so its a good job they are replaceable.

    Velcro is much easier.
