It's pay day Friday and since i feel like i'm not progressing enough i've decided to buy either a turbo trainer or some rollers. I've heard that rollers are less boring but, to me, they seem like a death trap. What does everyone on here use :?: :)

I've been through the turbo training phase, I had a Tacx i-magic, nice bit of kit, but even that couldn't sustain my interest. I sold it and put mudguards on my winter bike instead.

If I had more determination to train whilst looking at a wall, I would be more tempted by rollers

Make sure whatever you buy is foldable, there's a good chance it will be under the stairs pretty soon

It works for some people, I think there are 2 types of people, those that can and those that can't do turbo training. Maybe it will work for you, only one way to find out!

I`ve also been through that phase. When you have decided it is soul destroying and depressing the trainer does make a good work stand.

I'm afraid rollers are just as boring as a turbo. They aren't actually very difficult to ride, and they will improve your balance, but exciting they ain't.
I still use a turbo aswell. As long as you have a plan rather than just doing an hours pedalling, they can be useful. I'm looking to get a new one soon, and the Kurt Kinetic Road machine at £150 seems to be very highly rated. That said, my best investment for winter training has been my lights.

I bought some rollers and was given a turbo trainer. I was planning to use them during the hot, wet summer months but they are so dull I've been gettiing up to ride at 5am and drinking loads of water instead...

Where did you find it at that price?

Actually £169, my mistake. Still looks a good deal though.
