I forgot my Mums birthday one year.

The next day the ENTIRE phone conversation I had when her blokey phoned up
    (her boyfriend at the time...)

    <ringring>
"Good afternoon British Midland, Kieran Burns speaking"
"What day was it yesterday tw*t?!?"
    .
    .
    .
    "Oh.... Sh....."
    <click>

I begged another lunch break off my Boss - who agreed when I told him why. Shot down to the Flower shop in Castle Donington and ran in.... That conversation went something like:

"I need the BIGGEST bouquet of flowers you do!!!"
"errrr.... just how big are we talking?"
    "I forgot my Mums birthday!"
    .
    .
<man fixes me with a VERY steady gaze>
    .
    .
    .
"I really don't think we have enough flowers in the Shop"

I went back at the end of the day and they had basically got EVERY spare flower in place and made the biggest fecking bouquet you have ever seen! I had to walk sideways out the door to get out

I actually had to stop on the way back to Mums and put it on the BACK seat as it was getting in the way of the gear lever when I had it in the front passenger footwell. This thing was HUGE.

Best thing was - she loved it and I was out the doghouse afterwards :P

Well that's a result - next time you are in the doghouse for forgetting some important date you just say "Well you forgot our 5th wedding anniversary" and then go off in a sulk before she has a chance to point out you did as well!
    Faster than a tent.......
  • I managed to forget my fifth as well, I'd just started a new job a few days before, and my mind was mush. My wife is remarkably understanding, as we celebrated out tenth last year. :D

    LOL - Brilliant!

I had a very similar story when I forgot my Mom's birthday. Didn't help that my sis also managed to forget!

Honestly - you should've SEEN this bouquet. It had its own gravitational field it was so massive.

Apparently my Mum cracked up laughing when she got home and saw the mahoosive spread of flowers waiting for her (with a VERY apologetic note from me). She filled the house with the flowers and took a load with her to work and shared the joy there as well.

Utterly over the top, but really very funny :)

.... and since that year you've had the date engraved on your bathroom mirror, wardrobe, microwave, programmed it into all mobile phones (with alarm)................ :D

Put it this way - when I got married I made damn sure it was the day after my birthday so I wouldn't forget. Only last week I filled in a form and put the marriage date as the day BEFORE my birthday.

    There's really no hope.

That's why we had our wedding date engraved on the insides of our wedding rings1 Instant death would follow if I were to forget

It's just a hill. Get over it.

The fact that you regularly take your wedding ring off would give me cause for alarm if I were your wife...

Mine usually comes off as soon as I get in the door - but I feel naked if I leave home without it.

Knowing the date would be easy, realising that that date is the Tuesday of next week is the problem. My Dad's birthday is the code to the house alarm at home, I know it off by heart, but still miss his birthday.
