I've just brought a nre bike with disc brakes, to taken on a trip abroad. I was surprised to read that the bike should not be held upside down as this may affect the disc brakes. Is this true - presumably lots of people have taken their bikes on planes. :?

  • Its just if you have air in the lines it may cause an air lock in the Calliper not really a major issue. I fly a lot and never had any issues, and I know I have some air in my lines I bled them haha

so what has bikes being upside down and filing got to do with each other?

operating the brake upside down can cause problems.

flying with a bike can be a pain in the butt.

  • Its not that bad Nick, I can prep mine for flight in about 30 mins now but practice and all. Rebuilding takes a little longer haha.

I presume you meant flying not filing :P

Kangra as long as you fit spacers in the calipers you will be fine :)
